 II INCLUSIVE NATIONAL FESTIVAL (Astillero, 22 June 2024)

The Saturday, 22 June 2024, the Astillero estuary, again dressed as party and solidarity with the II Inclusive Nautical Festival a consolidated day as a benchmark in inclusive sport in Cantabria.

A vibrant day in the river

From the 10:00 a.m., the pier became a boiler of enthusiasm: more than 150 boats from twenty clubs from all over Spain – and even France – submerged the waters. The protagonists were the exits in Dragon Boat where paddler with and without disabilities shared rows and challenges, showing unison their passion and fellowship.

Throughout the day, several relevant competitions were held:

  • IV Paracanoe National Open Circuit

  • Trophy San José de Piragüismo (scorable for the Cantabrian League of Promotion)

  • Trophy Dragon Shipyard and Dragonucos part of the National Interclub Circuit of Inclusive Dragon Boat.

The program also had races for ages, parachute classes and exhibitions, with official timing and classifications that gave visibility to each effort.

Music, gastronomy, radio and commitment

The experience on earth was as intense as water testing:

  • Live concerts:

    • The Voice of the Patientat 12:00

    • The Gordini Rock Showat 13:30.

  • Gastronomic Variety: positions of La Crujiente, El Dromedario, A Bocados, Tacos Point and Helados Artesanos Riancho, amenizing the day.

  • Institutional and media presence: Onda Marina FM broadcasted it live from first hours to dismantling, interviewing organizers, athletes and even managing translation in French for international participants.

  • Exhibitions and collaborative stands: Racing Santander, SKODA, FESCAN, ONCE, among others, reinforced the inclusive character of the event.

Institutional support and values

Presented in the Hall of Plenos del Ayuntamiento, with the presence of the mayor Javier Fernández Soberón, the Sports Councilor Alejandro Hoz, the founder and CEO of Living Cantabria Silvia Ramón and Aura Tazón of Cantabria Multisport, which again emphasized the equal approach of the festival: “in the river we are all equal”.

Soberón expressed his gratitude to the sponsors, volunteers and paddlers, while Hoz highlighted “the magic of sport” as a social engine. Three editions later, the commitment has only grown.

Conclusion

The II Inclusive Nautical Festival It reaffirmed its mission to break down barriers, foster integration and celebrate collective efforts. A memorable day of sport, music, gastronomy and coexistence, with family atmosphere and inclusive spirit.
